QR error correction levels explained
Every QR code carries redundant data so it can still be read when smudged, printed small, or partly obscured. The standard defines four levels: Lrecovers about 7% of the code, M about 15%, Q about 25%, and H about 30%. Higher correction means more modules — a denser, busier pattern — so for a clean digital link, L or M scans fastest. Bump it to Q or H when the code will be printed at small sizes, applied to a curved or textured surface, or — crucially — when you place a logo in the centre. The logo physically covers part of the pattern, and only H reliably leaves enough redundancy for scanners to reconstruct what's hidden. This tool switches to H automatically when you add a logo.
WiFi & vCard QR formats
QR codes are just text, but apps recognise certain prefixes and act on them. A WiFi code uses WIFI:S:<ssid>;T:WPA;P:<password>;; — scan it and the phone offers to join the network with no typing, which is perfect for cafés and guest rooms. Use T:nopass for open networks and T:WEP for legacy ones. A vCard code embeds a full contact card (BEGIN:VCARD … END:VCARD) with name, organisation, phone, email, and website, so a scan can add you to contacts instantly — ideal for business cards and conference badges. Email uses mailto:, SMS uses sms:, and phone numbers use tel:. The preset builders above assemble these strings for you so you never have to remember the exact punctuation.
PNG vs SVG QR downloads
PNG is a fixed-resolution raster image — pick a size of at least 256px for screens and larger for print. It is the right choice for websites, emails, social posts, and anywhere you want a ready-to-drop image, and it is the format that carries your centre logo. SVG is vector: it describes the modules as shapes, so it stays perfectly crisp at any scale and is the better pick for print, large signage, packaging, or designs you'll resize in Illustrator or Figma. SVG files are also tiny and easy to recolour by editing the markup. Whichever you choose, keep strong contrast between foreground and background and leave a quiet margin around the code so scanners can lock on quickly.
